Samsung has practically wrapped up its offering for 2016 following the release of the impressive Samsung Galaxy Note 7. With 2016 ending in a couple of months, the interest expected shifts to the next flagship offering of the company for 2017 – the Samsung Galaxy S8.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is now 6 months old and is expected to be overshadowed by the release of the Samsung phablet. With that said, most are now wondering what the Galaxy S8 will carry and the rumor mill has started buzzing. Leading the pack of speculated rumors include a dual camera and an iris scanner, the same feature that the Galaxy Note 7 boasted when it launched recently.
The Iris Scanner
It seems only natural to see this biometric feature present on the Samsung Galaxy S8. According to discussions over at Weibo, the iris scanner could be technically a third camera aside from the main and front shooters. If so, this ramps up the security measures that most phones require to date.
Dual-Lens camera coming?
Though it hasn’t come out in the open, Samsung could be adapting an alleged feature that the iPhone 7 Plus will be carrying – a dual lens camera. It is one of the more publicized features that the minimally upgraded iPhone 7 will carry, something that could ramp up the photo and video capturing resolution.
According to GSM Arena, the rear cameras will have two separate resolutions. One will have 12 MP and the other 13 MP. Be reminded that these refer only to the rear camera.
Up front, the Samsung Galaxy S8 could make jack up the front-facing resolution from 5 MP to 8 MP which means better selfie-capturing moments. If so, this sums up the cameras count for the Samsung Galaxy S8 to four – dual cameras (12 and 13 MP), front-facing (8 MP) and the one for the iris scanner.
