ZTE Star 3 May offer 4K Display

If recent rumors are to be believed, it appears that we will get the first ever smartphone with 4K display, the ZTE Star 3. According to reports, it will have 5.5-inch display with 2160 x 3840 resolution, resulting in 806ppi of pixel density.
However, the validity of this report hasn’t been confirmed and we should take it with a pinch of scepticism. The TFT panel of Star 3 is based on a unique crystal structure that improves the display strength and reduces power consumption. Sharp has unveiled its first 4K display for smartphone, but it stated that availability will not begin until next year. Allegedly, the 4K display for the Star 3 is produced by BOE in China with very slim bezels, at just 0.55mm thick.

Renders of ZTE Star 3 have been leaked previously, revealing a model with dual-camera configuration on the back, minimal bezels and curved design. However, although the Star 3 does offer 4K resolution, it will be very hard to tell the difference between Quad HD and 4K displays. The extra sharpness is already very difficult to notice. Consumers have just started warming up to the idea of 2K displays on high-end models, so it is interesting that we will get upcoming smartphone models with 4K resolution.
